3. Rugged enough for a lifetime of farm use.
Key Features:
I doubt I have ever been as pleased with a tool as I am with your Valley Oak Wheel Hoe. It is great! I use it myself without gasoline and oil. It's a pleasure to use , there's no noise, and I cover an amazing amount of ground in a short time. -Pat Bramhall, Organic Grower, Maryland
Your wheel hoe was the best $300 I've spent on my farm. -Paula Foreman, Encore Farm
I received the wheel hoe yesterday, and spent a happy evening weeding in the garden with my family. My 7 and 5 year old boys had a great time using it, and my 2 year old daughter is dying to try it. -Nathan Kett, Franklin, Tenn.
It is the best tool I've ever bought in my life. -Karen Alexander, California
The weeder works wonders. On cultivated soil it takes less effort than a 3 HP rototiller and it's quiet as well. -Greg Eyolfson, British Colombia
I am now 36 weeks pregnant with our 4th child, and I am still able to handle the rigors of keeping my garden weed free because of this product. With the wheel hoe, I am able to cover more ground, more quickly, without the strain on my back. Without your product, gardening as a woman in the late stages of pregnancy would be very demanding on my body. Thanks so much for the great tool! -Vanessa Ash, Norfolk, Nebraska

Amazing Tool! For our small organic fruit and vegetable farm, it is indispensable and has quickly become our most used tool. For weeding, it's better than the flamer and most certainly better by traditional standup hoes, etc. The wheel hoe seems small, but covers an amazing amount of ground in a hurry.
The Valley Oak wheel hoe is the only wheel hoe I found that has quick-change attachments (rather than the get- a-wrench-out-and-take-off-the-nut that other manufacturers were offering). Pull a pin and the next tool is on in a few seconds. Height adjustment is similarly easy - a simple lever, no getting tools out.
The steel wheel with built in mud scraper works great - don't need a pneumatic tire. Craftsmanship is outstanding- after two months of use, including by volunteers, it works perfectly and the paint is not even scratched yet. It was easy to assemble, took about a half an hour including unpacking it.
We got the hoe, three tine thingy, tall 8" blade, short 8" blade, and the furrower. All have been useful. The furrower cut the time for planting potatoes IN HALF.
This plus a broadfork (we already owned one) makes it much easier to maintain any system, including low till or no till (we are low till after 5 years of getting the soil in good condition). We use it in the regular woodchipped landscaping as well for weeding.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

I purchased my Valley Oak Wheel Hoe, 4 seasons ago for my 4000 Sq. foot garden.
I will even expand it's role this year with a Gardening Project at my employment company's volunteer project garden (this includes several garden sites in urban areas). Davis Grau not only builds the strongest designed wheel hoe on the market (I own two antique models I occasionaly use), but he is willing to build improvements that can also be retrofitted to your older model!
Why buy a cheap item that not only will wear out in a few years, but won't do the job you intended it to do in the first place. Valley Oak builds a wheel hoe you can pass on to the next generation, my 14 year old son loves to use ours because it takes so little effort to cut under the soil.
Do yourself a favor and buy a Valley Oak Wheel Hoe for a lifetime of quality that won't break down, and any accessories you may need (I simply love to use the 4 tine rake when I want to clean out a row of weeds). David Grau builds great, "Made in America" gardening equipment and is expanding the line. Next i plan to get his Broadfork for Indiana clay based soil.

The Valley Oak wheel hoe works fabulous for us. It's built very tough, yet it's lightweight and easy to use. It has survived much abuse by our employees and volunteers. We bought two extra blades to adapt various row spacings. It's super quick to switch out the blades. Highly recommended.
